Sausage & Veg Skewers – Lunchbox Ideas

A simple but fun lunchbox idea for kids ready in just 5 minutes, using cocktail sausages and vegetables.

All this week I’m sharing cold lunch ideas that kids can bring to school or nursery. Today it’s Sausage & Veg Skewers. They are fun and colourful but easy to put together in just 5 minutes on busy mornings.

To make the Sausage Skewers I used precooked cocktail sausages. Vegetarian cocktail sausages will also work too.

I cut the sausages in half lengthways as they can be a choking hazard for toddlers and younger children.

I add them to these kids food skewers with cherry tomatoes (also halved), cucumber and pepper but you can use any cooked or raw veggies that you think your kids will enjoy.

I also added a portion of cheese. For younger children snip the end with a scissors so that they don’t need to ask for help to open it.

For a portion of carbs I added some breadsticks.

For fruit I added strawberries and blueberries. And chocolate rice cakes and mini party rings for a treat.
